OAuth Authentication Process#
The Simplicity AI SDK includes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server configuration that requires authentication. The silabs-knowledge-base server provides tools that help the agent find examples and API documentation.
Authentication steps can differ by agent. In general, select Authenticate next to the silabs-knowledge-base server on your MCP server configuration page, then complete the steps in this topic.
Prerequisites#
Complete Installation Overview for your operating system and IDE, or complete the equivalent setup for your agent.
Have a Silicon Labs Community account, or create one if you do not have one.
Use an IDE (Cursor or Visual Studio Code) with an AI agent enabled.
Authenticate with Simplicity AI SDK#
You can start the authentication flow in several ways. The most straightforward method is to start the silabs-knowledge-base MCP server, which starts the Console authentication workflow.
Start the
silabs-knowledge-baseMCP server (or run a tool that calls it while you are unauthenticated) to open the OAuth connect flow.Sign in with your Silicon Labs Community account.

Silicon Labs OAuth uses your free Silicon Labs Community account. If you do not have an account, create one on the Silicon Labs registration page. Registration also provides access to the Community portal and additional Console features.
Enter your Community account credentials.

Note: The first time you authenticate, you are prompted for your Community account credentials. On later authentications, this step is usually skipped, and your IDE continues with the authentication redirect.
Complete the redirect back to your IDE.

After successful authentication, you are redirected to your IDE. If you have multiple Console accounts, choose an account. The account you choose does not affect MCP output. Most users have only one account.

Note: The first time you authenticate, you might be prompted to create a Silicon Labs Console account. You create this account only once. Later authentications use the same account automatically.
Confirm that you are back in your IDE and that the tools are loaded and running.
Note: Your authentication session remains valid for 14 days or until you sign out, whichever comes first.
