Simplicity Studio Version 6.0.0 (October 16, 2025) Release Notes#
Welcome to the General Availability (GA) release of Simplicity Studio 6, the next-generation development environment for Silicon Labs' Series 2 and Series 3 platforms. This release introduces a modernized foundation focused on a modular architecture, improved SDK management, and increased extensibility for developer workflows.

Known Issues and Limitations#
Changes from Studio v5 behavior are marked with an asterisk (*). While not necessarily issues or limitations, these changes may affect existing workflows.
Installer 1.0.0#
Restricted Access Support: Early Access and Controlled Access installations are not supported in this release.
Studio shortcut (*): Studio launch shortcut is only available on the desktop.
Installation path (*): The installation path for the Package Manager cannot be customized by the user.
Installer version information: The Simplicity Installer does not include an About menu or version information in the UI that displays the Studio version on Windows.
Workaround: On Windows, locate the
SimplicityInstaller.exe
file on your system (C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\Programs\SimplicityInstaller
). Right-click the file, select Properties, and go to the Details tab for the version number.Workaround: On Linux, you can run the following command:

Studio 6.0.0#
Project Generator: An
HTTP 404
error may appear in the Project Configuration step of the new project wizard when generating a project.Workaround: Close the new project wizard window and retry the operation.
Device Selector dialog: Limited filtering functionality by protocol.
Matter Provisioning Tool: Not available in this release.
IAR project generator: Not available from the new project wizard view.
Workaround: Described in the Select a Target IDE section.
Multiple instance Support (*): Running multiple instances of the same version of Studio simultaneously is not supported.
Software updates (*): The Studio UI does not include an Updates indicator.
Workaround: Open Package Manager from the Simplicity Installer to check for updates.
Bug report (*): No Bug Report option is available.
Workaround: Capture log files specified in Reporting an Issue section.
Adapter FW Update: The Device Overview UI may not indicate that Adapter FW version 2.0.0 is available for the connected board.
Recommendation: Open Device Manager to manually check for and apply the firmware update. Or close and reopen the Device tab.
Windows BSOD with Older Adapter FW: When using Adapter Firmware versions earlier than v2.0.0 may cause a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on Windows.
Recommendation: Update your development board to Adapter Firmware v2.0.0 or later, which uses the Microsoft winUSB driver.
Studio version information: Simplicity Studio does not include an About menu or version information in the UI that displays the Studio version.
Workaround: Open Package Manager and view the installed Studio version displayed.
Pintool: The Pintool does not function correctly if the project path contains spaces.
Workaround: Avoid using spaces in the project path or project name or else use the component editor for pin configuration.
SDKs#
Matter: On Windows, Matter projects fail to build due to a known issue with GCC response files and the operating system's command string length limit.
Workaround: When creating a new project, use shorter solution and project names and use a shorter directory path for the project location.
SixG301: The SixG301 devices are supported only with CMake/GCC. (IAR is not supported.)
