Glossary#
Access Point (AP)#
A network management and routing device in a Wi-Fi network. The access point allows Wi-Fi stations to associate with it and then routes messages from one station to another. See Station (STA).
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)#
A low energy variant of Bluetooth networking technology, in which client devices such as computers associate with server devices such as headphones.
Evaluation Kit (EVK)#
A Silicon Labs kit for evaluating a solution such as Wi-Fi, usually including a radio board and base board.
Microcontroller Unit (MCU)#
An embedded system consisting of a microprocessor, memory, peripherals, and optionally, a wireless radio, usually connected by means of a bus.
Network Co-processor (NCP) Mode#
SiWx91x setup where application runs on a microcontroller unit (MCU) host, and connectivity firmware on SiWx91x device. See Microcontroller Unit (MCU).
Open Source Driver (OSD)#
Open source Linux driver enabling the Radio Co-processor (RCP) mode for the SiWx91x.
Radio Co-processor (RCP) Mode#
SiWx91x setup where the application runs on a Linux host along with the upper Wi-Fi network layers (transport and network), and lower Wi-Fi network layers (MAC and PHY) run on SiWx91x device.
Station (STA)#
An end-user or client device in a Wi-Fi network.
System-on-chip (SoC) Mode#
SiWx91x setup where application runs on a Linux host, and connectivity firmware on SiWx91x device.
Software Development Kit (SDK)#
A collection of tools and APIs for developing software applications.
WiSeConnect#
SDK used for developing Wi-Fi and/or BLE connectivity applications for the SiWx91x chipset family in SoC and NCP mode. See Software Development Kit (SDK), System-on-chip (SoC) Mode, and Network Co-processor (NCP) Mode.
