Getting Started with Simplicity Studio#

Note: Before you start working with Simplicity Studio, set up an account in the Silicon Labs Customer Support Portal. Access to some software packages is controlled by your customer profile.

After you install Simplicity Studio, a shortcut displays on your desktop. Double-click this icon to launch the software.

Explore Simplicity Studio#

When Simplicity Studio launches, the HOME page displays. From this page, you can:

  • Start a new project.

  • View all projects and demos.

  • View a list of your recent projects.

  • Access documentation and training for Simplicity Studio.

  • Join the Silicon Labs Community.

  • Contact Silicon Labs Technical Support.

On the left side of the HOME page, a vertical navigation bar has six buttons: HOME, PROJECTS, DEVICES, TOOLS, PACKAGES, and SETTINGS. When you click any of these buttons, except PACKAGES, a page displays at the right of your screen.

PROJECTS#

View and access your latest projects. You can also view example projects and demos and use these to create your own projects.

DEVICES#

View the device catalog, search for devices, view connected devices, and select devices.

TOOLS#

View and access the tools available in Simplicity Studio that let you complete a variety of tasks.

PACKAGES#

When you click this button, Simplicity Installer (Package Manager) opens and checks for any package updates.

SETTINGS#

  • Check Simplicity Studio version.

  • Add, remove, run, refresh, and test adapter packs.

  • Set your preferred IDE.

  • Adjust the timeouts for offline content.

  • Check the SDKs available for building project configurations.

  • Adjust the component visibility filters for your software components.

  • Set the theme for Simplicity Studio to either light or dark.

  • Grant permission to have your user experience tracked anonymously or not.

Opens docs.silabs.com and the Silicon Labs Docs AI widget so that you can enter a question.

Navigation Within the Pages#

Each page shows a left navigation panel and a HOME page on the right. When you click a panel on a page, another tab appears at the top of the page for the panel you selected. You can move among these tabs by clicking them. The following figure shows an example.

Return to the HOME Page#

From anywhere in Simplicity Studio, you can return to the HOME page of the suite by:

  • Clicking the HOME button in the navigation bar

  • Hovering over any button in the navigation bar and clicking the icon in the upper-right corner
