Z-Wave Tools#
Several tools, which are a combination of hardware and software, are available to facilitate Z-Wave development and debugging. The tools are included in the Z-Wave SDK which is available in Simplicity Studio.
Zniffer#
The Zniffer is a GUI tool that is used to capture RF communication on a Z-Wave network and can be used during software application development for debugging. The tool is available in Simplicity Studio and requires a USB Z-wave adapter to capture data.
The Z-Wave Zniffer User Guide describes how to use this tool. Helpful information about the tool is also in the Software Release Note and Z-Wave Zniffer Errata Note.
PC Controller#
The PC-based controller implements a GUI-based Z-Wave controller node by using the Z-Wave serial API to communicate with the UZB Z-Wave USB adapter. The tool is available in Simplicity Studio.
The Z-Wave PC based Controller v5 User Guide describes the tool. Helpful information about the tool is also in the Software Release Note and Z-Wave PC based Controller Errata Note.
UZB-7#
The UZB-7 is USB hardware device that allows a host to communicate to Z-Wave devices. With the PC application software, PC Controller, or any software compliant with Z-Wave Serial API, the host can communicate with various Z-Wave devices through the Z-Wave Command Classes.
The UZB-7 hardware documentation (schematic, BOM, assembly drawing) is included in Simplicity Studio, here Development Material for UZB-7.
