Bring-Up/Test HW Development User's Guide#

NOTE: This section replaces UG523: Bring-Up/Test HW Development User's Guide. Further updates to this user guide will be provided here.

This document describes how to use the RAILTest software to perform RF bring-up tests and validate a design based on the following Z-Wave 700 and 800 devices:

  • ZGM130S and EFR32ZG14 (700 series)

  • ZGM230S and EFR32ZG23 (800 series)

Key Points#

  • Provides hardware design considerations for bring-up and validation

  • Gives guidelines how to test RF performance of a Z-Wave product

  • Provides a basic guide of RAILtest to measure Z-Wave devices

Audience and Prerequisites#

The audience for this document is Z-Wave hardware developers and test engineers working with the development, bring-up test, and validation test of Z-Wave hardware using Z-Wave 700 and 800 devices. It is assumed that the reader has a basic knowledge of RF metrics and Z-Wave as such.

The prerequisites are:

  1. Access to Simplicity Studio

  2. A PC with a UART terminal program

  3. A Z-Wave development kit or hardware containing a Z-Wave 700 or 800 device with UART access

  4. Access to RF measurement equipment, such as an RF Spectrum Analyzer and an RF generator
