Known Issues and Limitations#
Mode-3 (PBR + RTT) is not supported. The only way to combine PBR and RTT is through the use of submodes.
Submodes can currently be used subject to the following limitations:
Only RTT can be used as submode, with PBR as the main mode.
Each submode step must be preceded by 2 main mode steps.
Channel map must be set to HIGH.
Using submodes increases the calculation time.
The accuracy of RTT is sub-optimal compared to PBR and performance improvements are under development.
Measurement accuracy is heavily affected by the movement speed of the devices. For high accuracy, the movement speed must be lower than 2.1 m/s when operating in the SL_RTL_CS_ALGO_MODE_REAL_TIME_FAST mode, and 1 m/s when operating in the SL_RTL_CS_ALGO_MODE_REAL_TIME_BASIC mode. We are constantly working on improving accuracy and responsiveness for dynamic use-cases.
Environmental conditions e.g. walls and metal acting as RF reflectors can affect accuracy.
Interoperability with other vendors’ solutions is not yet supported.
When operating in SL_RTL_CS_ALGO_MODE_STATIC_HIGH_ACCURACY mode, a degradation in accuracy can be observed in low SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) RF environments.
The likeliness indicator should be used with caution. A high value (close to 1) indicates that an estimated distance is likely accurate, while a low value (close to 0) is unreliable and may or may not indicate a bad distance estimate.
The maximum supported range in SL_RTL_CS_ALGO_MODE_REAL_TIME_FAST mode is 40 m.
The Ranging Service does not support the filtering feature.
The diagnostic data mode in the Channel Sounding Analyzer has the following limitations:
NCP baud rate must be set to 921600.
When using submodes or SL_RTL_CS_ALGO_MODE_REAL_TIME_BASIC, the procedure intervals must be increased from the default value.
