Create Project from a Selected Technology#

Whether you have a device connected or not, you can select a desired technology, explore the available sample applications, create a project based on a selected sample, and then choose a compatible device at the end.

On the HOME page of Simplicity Studio, a list of technologies that developers commonly use to create IoT projects displays in a row under the Start a New Project area near the top of the page:

  • Bluetooth LE

  • Bluetooth Mesh

  • Matter

  • Z-Wave

  • Thread

  • Zigbee

  • Wi-Fi

  • Wi-SUN

  • Amazon Sidewalk

  • Connect

  • RAIL

Each technology is in a separate tile.

Note: If you do not see all the technologies in the list above, hover under the row of technology tiles to display a gray horizontal scroll bar, and then scroll to the right to view the rest of the tiles.

You can create a project in Simplicity Studio by selecting one of these technologies by following the steps below:

  1. In the row of technologies, the homepage of Simplicity Studio, click a technology tile link. In the example below, Bluetooth | Mesh is selected.

  2. Refer to Example Projects & Demos for steps to explore and select the desired sample app, and then click the CREATE button in the tile for the sample project you want to use to create your project.

  3. In the Compatible Device dropdown list, select a compatible device. In this list, devices that are not compatible are grayed out. You can filter by connected devices, compatible devices, kits, boards, and part by checking the box on the left of the item. In the example below, the Compatible and Board filters are checked.
